I'm planning on writing a radio play, and was just wondering what people look for when deciding whether to listen to one or not (such as the genre, how long it is etc.). Also, if you have any ideas for radio plays, or an idea which you wish would already be a radio play, this would be really helpful too. Thanks!

Radio 4 usually has a play most days and I suggest that buying a copy of Radio Times would give you an idea of what types of plays are actuality broadcast.

This research will answer questions about how many characters normally appear and the length.

Radio 4's plays are normally have 60 minutes in duration. That is a lot to write.

The BBC is a good market get it right and you could be earning a useful income.

I like SciFi and Fantasy I think 20 minutes is good at least a length of episode

but I like humor more

Maybe adapting something in public domain that isn't already an X minus 1 episode.

Horror works well with audio oration or audio drama but seems it has been done almost too much especially around Halloween
