The best way to get yourself heard is through social networking, and I don't mean social networking websites, I mean getting out into the local scene and talking to people. Go to gigs and rap battles and make friends with like-minded people. Talk with other rappers about what they've done to build their reputation and you'll learn a lot. I think there's a saying which applies to the entertainment industry: it's not what you know; it's who you know. Make connections with people who have connections.

You should also try to find out if your area has any community radio stations; it shouldn't be too hard to get airplay on them so long as you have some half decent recordings. Internet radio is also becoming increasingly popular.

The next best thing however, is unfortunately the online side of social networking. I know sitting in front of a computer for hours shouldn't be the way to go about a music career, but we have to admit times are changing. Look up rap music blogs and e-mail them a four or five track demo, if it's good then they'll distribute your music to their subscribers. Upload your music on youtube, then find rap music fans and send them a friend invite. You could even try shooting a video clip if you have the means, or doing vlogs about...well, whatever you like. Then there's facebook and the swiftly dying myspace...which are both pretty self explanatory.

Good luck to you, DjNative

Currently, you have to buy air time, which costs a lot. Like, if you want to have a five minute long program of your own, just to get your name out, you can introduce yourself, and play one of your songs. The next day, you can say why you went in to the music business, and what you like most about the style of music you chose to go in to, etc., and play another one of your songs that day. And, continue on from there like that. Then, after one week, someone would have heard about you. After one month, you will be somewhat recognized by the community, at least in your local area. But, the better way is to just record your music for a record company, and have them sell it for you wide spread. Then, radio stations will hear about your music, and they will play it whenever they want to, and they will have to pay you for playing your music.

Talking to people in the scene isn't always the best way to get noticed because it becomes this school yard mentallity where everyone knows everyone. A great example of a band that didnt kiss up and do the soical networking thing is the cars. They came out of nowhere and barely played any gigs b4 getting big. A better way is to observe your local club scene. not to get involved, then strike.be patient, if you have the talent and get your name out there. Social networking like facebook is good but only to a certain extent, because there a is point where you are just drowing in friends and you are just like every other myspace band. Remember, there are people out there who's main purpose is to randomly add people for bands groups and businesses. Like the old motto goes, "quality not quantity". make your fans work for you.

Third is closest however this is the historic concept (now not in use very more often than not nowdays). Some programmers suppose that if you happen to listen a track fairly quicker on their station it'll make the competing station(s) sound gradual and now not as crisp and fascinating once they play the identical track. It's now not always performed to get extra song or advertisements performed because the broaden is minimum - performed adequately, you should not be capable to listen to the change. The truth that you've got spotted, leads me to consider you're taking note of a station whose application director is taking the train a bit of too a ways. We used to list 45s at approximately forty six-forty six.five RPM to get this final result. Did it paintings? Who is aware of, we used to do tons of matters to screw with the contest - nonetheless do ;<) -a man named duh
